First, the pool heater arrived over a week ago! Oh how I would love to try it out, but alas, we have had the coldest weather of the winter in the last couple of weeks... mighty cold, well below zero most nights.

A week ago Sunday, we had our annual tax refund dinner with Mark and Beth at the Whistling Bird . Jamaican food, and really yummy! I had a jerk sampler platter (shrimp, chicken and pork) with beans and rice on the side. The food was terrific, and of course we had Jamaican Red Stripe beer to go with it. The beans and rice were a little disappointing... I was expecting rice with spicy, saucy beans and it was actually just white rice with a couple of red beans in it here and there... Still it was a great meal, lots of Bob Marley and other Reggae, fun decor and I wished I had worn shorts and sandals. And for sure the company couldn't be beat. We will definitely go there again

President's Day was nice enough for some cross country skiing and the boys (Tom, Reuben and Isaac) made a fire in the firepit with all the boughs from wreath making and Christmas decorating.
This is what we do with our Christmas tree after Christmas every year. We stand it in the corner of the deck on the SW of the house. Here the birds can hide from the cats while they visit the feeders. The melt off from the roof coats it in ice and so it is a real conversation piece. We will likely burn it up at John's 50th Birthday party in the Spring.
And last, but certainly not least as they say, Matt lost a tooth! It was his first one and he didn't want to put it under his pillow. He never heard of the tooth fairy and didn't want her taking his tooth. All the original Bonk kids know that the tooth fairy looks remarkably like mom... we have never really pretended in a real tooth fairy... so once he heard about it he was perfectly willing to trade his tooth for a dollar.
