So... despite the more than rocky start, we do have four new children in our family. I cannot print their names, nor can I post pictures. I can say that things have settled down immensely now, and we truly love and care about these little kiddos :) We are so thankful that they were able to stay with us.
These children were all in separate foster homes before they came to us. We were hoping all six would have their forever home here. We are very thankful to God that those in charge of such things did not separate them all again because the older half siblings had more challenges than John and I could parent.
I can tell you that LB (Little Boy) is a handful, but far from the "unadoptable" label he was given pre-placement. He loves John and follows him around continually. He holds back a bit around me, while throwing himself in John's lap whenever possible. LB is cute as can be, but he can be quite stubborn. His favorite come backs when he doesn't like something you say: "Leave me alone!" and "You B****!" He is 5 yrs old, and makes that last comment in a low, nasty voice that is pretty laughable, though the general public would probably not find it as humorous as our strange family does.
LB's twin sister LG (Littlest Girl) is also adorable :) She has a much milder temperament than her brother... I find that a little unusual as it doesn't seem quite right for a child who has been through as much as she has, to be so happy go lucky. Still she is only somewhat defiant, smart as a whip and, as I said, adorable.
LG1 is 6 and, surprise, could not be any cuter :) She is hesitant and apprehensive, saying many, many times to me: "I like it here, Mom... I love you... I don't want to leave here." And of course after the past month she must certainly think there is reason to worry. We took her out of Kindergarten back in April because she was so withdrawn and not eating. Once she was home a week or so she really started to relax. She is sweet and very easy to get along with.
BG (Big Girl) is going to be 8 yrs old next week! She is also a very sweet girl and, of course, a beauty ;) She is fairly easy going, a huge change from her first couple of weeks here.
In fact, if I were to blog about these kids 4-6 weeks ago I would have said a lot of things that are no longer accurate. For instance, every one of them would open their mouth and a lie... about anything and everything. Seriously, if their mouths were open they were lying. They also would not eat (that has really gone by the wayside!) LB bit everyone who came near him. BG screamed and threatened people and could not go anywhere with anyone but John or me because she would throw a HUGE fit in the car and try to get out the door, even if the vehicle was moving.
So there is a brief introduction... Perhaps I can get back to some "normal for us" blogging? We shall see...
