It has been a noteworthy summer in that we have not had a frost here in the nation's cold spot since May. That has not happened for many years. That also means that we got tomatoes this year!! That has not happened since we moved out here 15 years ago. If only we had known we surely would have doubled our plants. But as it was, we got LOTS of tomatoes and though not enough to can, enough for people to eat a couple like apples every day...yum.
The bad news: Last night we had a HARD freeze... 24 degrees here in Embarrass. Even though I used up all my spare sheets covering the tomatoes, it was not enough to keep the cold from freezing the plants :( The growing season here is officially over.
