Need a New Car Blues

We really promised ourselves we would never take out a car/vehicle loan again. We decided we would wait until our savings reached a point where we could pay cash for a car, and just drive what we have until it died. Well it died. We have been over a month without a car, just driving the van or the Suburban and the gas cost is killing us. John drives a minimum of 100 miles a day, 5 days a week. The Suburban goes 350 miles on a tank of gas... the tank of gas costing about $70. The van is actually slightly better mileage, but only slightly. The Taurus, on the other hand, went the same distance on less than $30 per tank.

So we are doing what we said we wouldn't, getting a "pre-owned" vehicle that we will need a loan on :( This puts off our debt free day by a couple of months. If you figure the amount we are NOT putting in the tank of the big vehicle it works out to actually be the best thing to do. Still....

Blogger is not cooperating to upload pictures for me today, so I will try to post one later. Unfortunately the car we are looking at has cloth seats instead of leather. Not that I am very image conscious.... the leather in the old car was great because John spills... alot... sorry dude but it's true ;)
