Another Woods Walk
I learned something on my walk this morning. Seems that when guys are going through the woods (like on a drive during deer hunting or something) they sometimes come across big dead trees still standing. So do you know what most guys do (apparently)? Yes, they push them over.
While we were walking John told Tom to go on and push this big dead snag down. Tom, of course, was happy to comply. Once the thing was safely on the ground Tom said to his dad, "Wow... I didn't know you did that too! I thought I was the only one!"

I bumped into your blog from Smiles and Trials ...
Funny about pushing a dead tree down - and funny to see the words in Finn 'metsa lenki' (there should be dots over the 'a' actually, but fun to see!) I'm Minnesotan, married to Finlander, and we are currently living in Finland (economy made us decide to move here.) And a month or two ago, I was in the woods picking blueberries with my kids (homeschooled kids!)and our boys who are ages 10, 9, and 7 pushed a very tall old pine tree down (instead of blueberry picking!) So interesting to hear ... that's maybe just a 'guy thing'! I thought it was fun to see how they figured out which way it would fall the easiest, and it was great physical exercise for them as it took about 15 or 20 minutes to actually get it to 'timber' as they say!
FINLAND!? How cool! Where in Minn are you from? We are up north near the boundary waters in a VERY Finnish area (you would think they would know to put an umlaut?). We are surrounded by Heikkila's and Kinnunen's Rahkola's and Maki's and our roads are Palo Tia and Soini, Lahtola and Salo :)
AND PLUS we know how to say SOW-nah (not SAW-nah)
