I am reading what so far is a pretty good book: The Simple Living Guide by Janet Luhrs.
I love this passage "...literally every single person I interviewed had consciously and with clear purpose designed their lives to coincide with their ideals. They live deliberately. They know full well what they want out of life, and they take creativity and determination to impressive heights in order to accomplish their dreams. Not one of them waited around for someone else to make things better, and not one of them blamed other people or other systems for keeping them from what they deemed important. Nor did any of them absentmindedly wake up one day wondering how their life came to be. They live consciously...deliberately...and thoughtfully. This is what Thoreau meant when he said "I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life..."
Ah... I so want that to be me...

Linda, I would say that IS you. Do you not think so? I feel like you have very purposely designed your country life, your marriage to the "old guy," and the raising of your children to coincide with your goals and ideals. As a mere reader, I've always been very impressed by your purposeful living.
Maybe your "so want that to be me" comment wasn't meant to suggest that you think you're not succeeding at that, but I just wanted to say that -- at least from afar -- it sure SEEMS like you're succeeding at living in purposeful pursuit of your life choices. No?
Ooohhh, I gotta get my hands on that book! Love this. We try try try to live by our values but it always helps to get an extra kick in the butt :)
I love that post! And that is so how you have lived your life and one of the things I most admire about you!
Raising my kids on my own again, I've gotten stuck in an "if only" rut. I so desperately want to move us to the country and get out of the rat race and keeping up with the Jones' of suburban living...can't seem to get the courage, or energy, these days!
My birth mom moved to Colorado and wants me to follow, oh do I wish I could. But the experience of age makes me think of all of the "what if's" or "yeah buts"!
Keep living your life the way you do, you inspire others to dream!
