A Little More Normal OR A Little Less Wailing

Things are mellowing out to some extent here today. A couple kids have come down from the howling heights, leaving the task of stress release via vocal spewing mostly to Mary.... and she is, of course, eager to do her part in that area.
Tomorrow John is taking the kids out to cut down the Christmas tree. In the afternoon we will all decorate it. We have laid down a couple of rules in advance for those that cannot keep their 'traumatic past' related wailing in check. Do I think that will work? Not really, but I feel obligated to try to maintain some semblance of happy holiday time for the ones that don't have family love issues. Hopefully, prayerfully, the rest will come to feel more happy and less sad inside with time.

I have fully made up my mind that I will enjoy this Advent and Christmas season from here on out....regardless. I love the start of the new church year. I love the Advent hymns and Christmas carols. And to make a good thing even better, a new wonderful organist started recently at our church... Last Sunday's singing of "The King Shall Come" was just great. Here we are, focusing on The Word becoming flesh and dwelling among us... What a fantastic reason to celebrate! E'en so, Lord Jesus... Come!

Amen! We were blessed with a great Advent song service here last night. With each year the meaning of Advent impacts me more; not just awaiting the celebration of Christ's birth but also His triumphant return and our reunion with those who have gone before us!

Come, O long-expected Jesus, Born to set your people free; From our fears and sins release us By your death on Calvary. Israel's strength and consolation, Hope to all the earth impart, Dear desire of ev'ry nation, Joy of ev'ry longing heart.

Born your people to deliver, Born a child and yet a king; Born to reign in us forever, Now your gracious kingdom bring. By your own eternal Spirit Rule in all our hearts alone; By your all-sufficient merit Raise us to your glorious throne.
