On the way home from the cemetery, I decided to stop at a few thrift shops I know of in towns along the way. Everyone needs some fall/winter stuff to wear and even if I felt like outfitting 12 kids in totally new clothing I couldn't possibly afford it. Also, Pete made a request for some more knives as we were down to two butter knives in the drawer.
Well I cannot believe what some "resell it" places want for their stuff! One place wanted an average of $8 for a used pair of children's jeans... not even name brand! The Levi's... used, faded knees and raggy hems, were going for $10-$12. T-shirts (used!) for $5. I was incredulous. No way am I paying that for used clothes. So over to Salvation Army and Goodwill where I found such CRAP for clothes that felt like I had lice when I left... sigh... I hate our local thrift stores. In 18 years of checking our local Goodwill I have probably found 5 useable items. I think the workers must raid the stuff before they put it out. I know other people in other places find lots of great deals at their Goodwill stores. An old lady with no fashion sense wouldn't wear the junk in our local store.
I did find some butter knives at a place nearer the cemetery. Some of them were pretty cool looking. I guess if everything we own is going to be mix match, it might as well be kinda funky lookin' too. I should be out garage sale shopping for clothes today, but it is raining and yucky.
