Finishing A Major Project!
I have spent the last two full days moving kids bedrooms around... again. I have had my two middle boys in a basement bedroom since January, when it became apparent that their new brother would wreck everything they have. We had planned to put in egress windows for them, but have since run out of funds. In addition, we had a small dryer fire a month ago that left me worrying continually about the boys in the basement. Then, last Thursday, some friends of ours lost their home when a storm came through, lightening struck their house and it was burned to the ground. That was enough incentive for me to get the boys out of the basement.
So... Tom and Reuben came upstairs to room with Matt again in a new area (Matt has settled down considerably though he already wrecked a couple of their toys), Jaime and Jackie went down to Matt's/Tom and Reuben's old room, Becca agreed to move upstairs to Molly, Melissa and Mary's room, giving the three girls much more space to mess up in Becca's vacated bedroom.
I have become a minimalist-type person over the past several years (i.e. LESS IS BETTER... if it is not useful, decorative and/or I don't love it, out it goes). I used this opportunity to ditch TONS of stuff. Bags and bags of junk. Most of it the kids did not see me throw and I am certain they will never miss. My motto is "If you don't own it, you won't have to clean it/pick it up." Not only that, but you are free to enjoy more of your things when you are not bogged down in a ton of junk. So at any rate... aside from the fact that the whole rest of the house has gone down the toilet, I am very happy with the moves.... at least so far.
Another plus: Rebecca found a library book that has been missing for four months and I was just about to pay for :)

I, too, want everything gone that isn't being used.
