Between this 400,000 BTU propane furnace and the multi-paneled solar collection unit (not yet fully assembled in this picture), the pool should be reaching a happy temp of 100 degrees by Friday night! Ah, the thought of a steaming 30,000 gallons of water, with me smack in the middle of it... sigh...
Just so's you energy police don't sweat too much, we are only heating it for the old guy's (seen here on the cell phone, taking a break from the set up) birthday soiree which will go from Friday to Sunday night. After that, we won't heat again until mid-May and then no more than 80 degrees. Until the not-nearly-as-old Lady celebrates the best day of summer. Then of course we will use whatever energy is necessary to spend her whole birthday in the pool, regardless of the temperature outside.
